Tito Boy gives an advice in entertainment reporting

Philippines’ King of Real Talk Boy Abunda advised students to “stay on the side of truth” in an entertainment reporting forum on January 30.

Abunda, who has been an entertainment reporter for over 20 years, said he considers truth as relative especially in writing for broadcast.

He spoke for an hour at UP Journalism Club’s Project Byline 4.0: Tales of Fame, Shame and Blame, a forum on how media reports entertainment news, at the College of Mass Communication Auditorium in the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

Abunda also mentioned that “entertainment writing, whatever kind of writing, should entertain, should inform, should educate.

“If it’s making people feel good and entertaining them, and making them feel light, and in effect, making them better people in many ways, then you are performing it,” Abunda said when he was putting relevance in the context of entertainment reporting.

On his entertainment reporting career, Abunda said that “it was tough” but he went through.#
